There’s something so compelling about a great wine bar. Maybe it’s the chance to sample everything from sparklings to pinots by the glass. Maybe it’s music that sets the perfect mood. And, of course, great food to accompany your vino doesn’t hurt. So, where are the best wine bars in Reno and the Lake Tahoe area?

Here’s three (okay, technically five) …

In downtown Reno, the place to head to grab a glass of vino is West Street Wine Bar. Tucked into the West Street Market, this casual, inviting wine bar has that cool, mellow atmosphere of a great wine bar and an assortment of wines to back it up. The primary list has a large assortment of offerings by the glass, but the reserve list is the source for true magic.

Using a Coravin® and a scale, West Street Wine Bar pours from the reserve list by weight. Not sure what to get? Ask. The owner knows his way around the world of wine and will guide you through a tour of some eclectic, boutique wines. And, if you work up an appetite from all that tasting, head next door to Bowl, place an order, and they’ll bring it over when it’s ready.
