It’s no secret that we drink quite a bit of wine. When we are home, each evening we typically have a glass of white and a glass of red – so we always have bottles open. Over the years, we’ve tried everything from pump wine stoppers to wine preserver spray, to simply using a decorative wine stopper. So, when Avina asked us to try out their wine stoppers, we said sure.

The Avina wine stoppers are locking wine stoppers that, according to Avina, are “hermetic bottle stoppers” that have airtight seals to prevent spoilage and leakage.

The box, which is quite attractive, comes with three of the wine stoppers and a brochure.

Usage is quite simple – you simply put the stopper on the bottle and push it to lock. To open, you lift and it releases.

Avina states the wine stoppers fit 90% of wine bottles (some are too wide and it doesn’t work on most sparkling wine bottles, such as champagne, cava, prosecco or other sparklings).

The next question was if it sealed well. While there might be a technical way to test a hermetic, or airtight, seal, I simply turned it the bottle upside down for a couple of minutes to see if there was any leakage – and no, not a drop leaked.

But, if it should break in the future, Avina warrants the wine stoppers with a “You Break It, We Replace It” warranty. The warranty requires registering the product on the Avina website. After registering, the warranty states they will replace a broken wine stopper free of charge, excluding postage and packing.
