Southwest Airlines® Rapid Rewards & Laithwaite’s Wines

Always looking for more ways to earn points for free travel, we frequently check out the partner offers on airline websites for bonus points/miles opportunities.

The Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards “More Ways to Earn” section has quite a few interesting offers, ranging from food, to flowers, to wine.

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Partner offers

We have been known to drink a bit of wine, so we thought we’d try the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Laithwaite’s wine club.

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards / Laithwaite’s Wines wine club: The offer

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards : Laithwaite's Wines wine club - the offer

The Rapid Rewards / Laithwaite’s 4 Seasons Wine Club introductory offer is for 15 bottles of wine and 2,000 Rapid Reward points for $69.99 plus $19.99 shipping and tax.

As a member of the 4 Seasons wine club, Laithwaite’s Wine will then send you a case of wine every 3 months unless you cancel. Each additional wine club shipment earns an additional 1,000 Rapid Rewards points and, if you choose to purchase any non-wine club wine, 3 points per dollar spent excluding shipping charges.

The website states it takes six to eight weeks for points to be posted to your Rapid Rewards account. Bonus points do not count towards A-List, A-List Preferred, or Companion Pass qualification.

So, $89.98 (wine + shipping) for 15 bottles made the cost per bottle $5.99 each + tax. If you add in the value of 2,000 Rapid Rewards points, which at the time we ordered was $55, it makes the wine cost $34.98 or $2.33 per bottle. We were in and placed the order.

The website states: “No obligations – we’ll only ever send you wines you want and you’re free to cancel at any time.”

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards / Laithwaite’s Wines wine club: The order

Placing the order was simple – it’s on the same page on the Laithwaite’s Wine website accessed from Southwest Airlines Rapid Reward website that has the program details.

When ordering, in addition to your shipping and payment information and Rapid Rewards number, you select whether you want to receive all reds, all whites, or a mix. The order page has links to the actual wine you will receive with descriptions for each.

The order page states to allow 10-14 days for delivery.

We placed the order on the 13th of November and were charged $95.39 at that time.

We received our wine about 10 days later at our business location. If possible, it is best to have it shipped to an office as delivery companies will not leave wine without someone over 21 signing for the shipment.

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards / Laithwaite’s Wines wine club: The wine

Of course, personal preferences in wine are as vast as the amount of wine produced, but here’s our thoughts on each of the wines received.

Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards / Laithwaite’s Wines wine club: Cancelling the membership

We received the Rapid Reward points for the Laithwaithe’s Wines wine club enrollment on December 16, a little over a month after placing the order, which was sooner than the 6-8 weeks stated at the time of the order.

Our final test of the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards / Laithwaite’s Wines wine club was to close the account.

Logging on to the Laithwaite’s Wines website, we searched for about 10 minutes and never found a way to cancel membership, so we sent an email via the customer service form.
